I was born in Monroe, N.C. . I received my undergraduate degree in art history from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton Virginia. I received my Masters Degree in Fine Arts from George Washington University. I have also studied at the Institute for American Universities, Aix-en-Provence, France, Penland School of Crafts, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I have been the recipient of numerous awards including Fulbright Fellowships to Egypt and the Netherlands and the North Carolina ArtsCouncil. I have enjoyed artist’s residencies at the the Virginia Center for Creative Arts, Mt. San Angelo and Burren College, Ballyvaughn Ireland. My work has been exhibited in many countries including Vietnam, India, Nepal, Germany, Morocco, Spain, Finland, Peru, Canada, Kenya, and the United States. Many of these were organized though the United States Information Agency. My work can be found in the collections of the Southern Graphics International, the Lalit Kala Academy in Bombay, the American Embassy in Spain, Larson Collection of Drawings, Austin Peay College, Clarksville, Tenn. the rare books collection of Trinity College, Hartford Connecticut, the McDonald Corporation, Oakbrook Ill.and RJ Reynolds World Headquarters as well as numerous private collections
I was on the faculty of of Central Piedmont Community College for thirty years before my retirement in 2000.
